The Department of Neuropsychiatry at KyungHee University Hospital (KHUH) provides evaluation and treatment for all aspects of behavioral and mental disorders. We offer many psychotherapeutic modalities and services that arrange comprehensive mental health to both inpatients and outpatients.
The Department obtains two kinds of psychiatric wards, open and closed ward. There are 20 beds in closed ward and 8 beds in open ward.
The Department of Neuropsychiatry has four professors, two fellows for child psychiatry, eight residents, nurses, clinical psychologists, and a social worker that consider teamwork essential in treating patients. Each faculty has their special fields although they are also experts in general psychiatry.
Professor Ji-Young Song mainly treats patients with psychosomatic disorder, chronic pain disorder and dementia. Professor Geon Ho Bahn has a specialty in pediatric and developmental problems and specializes in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Professor Jong-Woo Kim is an expert in obsessive-compulsive disorder and social phobia and Professor Jong-Woo Paik concentrates on depression and geriatric psychiatry including dementia and cognitive disorder.
The primary objective of the Department is to provide clinical service for psychiatric patients. The department at KHUH leads the field of psychiatry in Korea including the areas of schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, dementia, psychosomatic disorder, and pediatric and adolescent mental disorders through the development of treatment protocols, drug treatment and rehabilitation.
Furthermore, our department uses various therapeutic approaches - psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and play therapy in addition to advanced drug treatment.
The Neuropsychiatry department is the unit for the education for medical school students, nursing students, psychiatric nurse practitioners master course, and various therapists who practice music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and etc.
The department also operate Gangbuk-gu and Dongdaemoon-gu community mental health center , which have counseling and rehabilitation center for patients and their families for the sake of community mental health and well-being. Professor Song serves as the chief of Dongdaemoon-gu center for dementia.
All psychiatrists and nurses at the department will provide the utmost case with sincerity and the hope of curing mental illnesses.
