Neurosurgery refers to an academic science that treats all diseases occurred in nervous system including the central nervous system such as brain and spinal cord, peripheral nervous system, and autonomic nervous system, with a surgical method. Because the nervous system is intensely complex and is not regenerated once it is damaged, the nervous system is not restorable and any disorder in the nervous system causes the permanent disturbance in the area controlled by the corresponding nervous system. Therefore, in-depth and specialized knowledge and experience are vital. The Department of Neurosurgery consists of cerebrovascular disease, brain tumor, spinal disease, trauma, facial spasm and pain, gamma knife, stereotactic surgery, cerebrovascular surgery clinic, each of which provides specialized medical treatment with specialists. The recent developments of diagnostic radiation devices and microsurgery techniques have brought significant improvement, and the department is providing active medical treatment. |
