Department of Periodontology specializes in periodontal disease, gingival plastic surgery, and implant. Since its establishment upon the opening of affiliated hospital of Kyung Hee University of Dentistry, the department has been striving for treatment and prevention of periodontal diseases and putting utmost effort for the satisfaction of the patients with implant treatment and other various treatments using the latest laser. Along with clinical treatment, Department of Periodontology is actively engaged in research that will be the foundation of the clinical treatment as the leader of Korean Academy of Periodontology. The department is focusing its study on the impact of surface roughness of implant on osseointegration, variation of osseointegration by implant surface treatment, impact of the number of drill holes in mesh type titanium film on osseointegration during guided bone regeneration, comparison of the growth of calvarium cells cultivated in absorptive blackout curtain, connection between the shape of the palate, tooth and the thickness of palate masticatory mucosa, and impact of autogenous bone graft during sinus lift procedure. At present, 3 professors, 1clinical lecturer, and 7 residents are giving their best in medical treatment and research for the health of the patients.
